Frequently Asked Questions

We understand that you may have many questions about the process of assisted living, enrollment, and more. Here is a page dedicated to answering some of the most common questions.

Questions

What is assisted living, respite care, senior living, and memory care?

Assisted living is a type of arrangement that allows residents to maintain a level of autonomy while receiving active care and health management. Respite care is temporary assisted living. Senior living is much more autonomous than assisted living, almost like living in your own apartment. Memory care is a more structured form of assisted living, providing consistent care and supervision for individuals with memory issues.

Why is Heart’s Content Unique?

We take pride in caring for our residents.  We have a home like environment, healthy balanced meals, and fun filled activities in a secure environment. We offer life enriching activities on a daily basis and provide special events. Our staff are committed to assuring that seasonal celebrations and holidays have planned events that honor the occasion.

How affordable are the programs you provide?

We recognize the resident’s and family’s financial situations in caring for your loved one. At Heart’s Content we work with the resident and their family regarding financial options.  We accept private pay, State funded programs like the A&D waiver program, Region 7, auto insurance, and long term care insurances.

Do you allow for anytime visitation?

While we recognize the significance of visiting with family members, we encourage visiting between the hours of 8am to 8pm.  However, on special occasions we can accommodate the visit with your loved one with prior notice and without interrupting others privacy.

Do you accommodate dietary limitations for residents?

Yes, based on the resident’s preference, physician recommendations, and any allergies.

What are the options if my loved one does not require the level of assistance for living in the Home?

We have alternative options. We have private and shared senior living apartments that are accessible at the ground level for easy access with spacious living areas.  We provide well-balanced and delicious meals delivered to their room or the dining area.  We manage their medications as well as assistance with fund management.  Occupants have access to the laundry room, housekeeping services, and can enjoy the outside gazebo and spacious grounds in a nice country environment.

Are there healthcare professionals who monitor the overall care of our loved one?

Yes. Visiting physicians, nursing care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and podiatry services are available. We honor the requests for Hospice Care and work jointly with those organizations to provide quality services. We have a licensed nurse with decades of experience overseeing our policies and procedures and routinely assures that practices meet or exceed regulatory standards and expectations. Our staff is regularly trained on care delivery processes to assure quality, safe care.

Is there a hairdresser who comes in?

Every six to eight weeks a hairdresser comes to the home to do haircuts. With advanced notice they will also perform coloring, perms, or styling.

Do you do laundry?

We do all the laundry every day for occupants of the assisted living part of the home.  The Senior Living apartments have access to their own laundry room.

Is your midnight staff awake throughout the night?

Our midnight staff actively attends to the needs of our residents throughout the night. Housekeeping in the common areas and food preparation is also done at night.
